Exports hit US$43.3 billion in 8 months

Vietnam’s exports hit a record high of more than US$43.3 billion over the past eight months, a year-on-year increase of 39 percent, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In addition to key exports, china and ceramics brought in US$235 million, kid’s toys US$70 million and jewelleries US$736 million.

Vietnam shipped 3.4 million tonnes of rice abroad and earned US$2.2 billion in the reviewed period, down by 20 percent in volume but up 95 percent in value.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Planning and Investment reports that industrial production value fetched VND438 trillion in the past 8 months, up 16.3 percent. Notably, industrial products recording high growth rates included trucks (80 percent), coaches (73.6 percent), washing machines (41.5 percent), powdered milk (34 percent), freezers (27 percent) and TVs (26 percent).
