Binh Duong earns nearly US$4 billion from exports
Binh Duong’s export revenues in August increased by 5.4 percent against July, raising the province’s total earnings from exports in the first eight months of 2008 to US$3.95 billion, an annual rise of 24.1 percent.
The foreign-invested sector fetched US$2.8 billion in the reviewed period, up 25.2 percent.
Among the province’s 15 export staples, cashew nuts recorded the highest growth rate (42.5 percent), followed by plastic products (36.5 percent), electric wires and cables (34.1 percent), pepper (31.2 percent), and processed food (25.8 percent). Wooden products and electronics saw a downwards trend.
To raise the province’s export turnover by 30 percent from last year, the Binh Duong provincial people’s committee is encouraging enterprises to boost their activities in the last four months of the year.
