Vietnam intensifies seafood export to Russia
Vietnam has so far this year fetched up to 90 million USD from seafood exports to Russia , the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) reported.
The association said the year-on-year surge of 35 percent is due to businesses recently intensifying seafood exports to Russia .
In June, the seafood export to the Eastern European market recorded a tenfold increase in volume and 4.6-time increase in turnover over the same period last year.
According to VASEP, in addition to the authorised agencies’ efforts to remove difficulties for producers and exporters, the signing of a cooperation agreement between VASEP and the Russian Association of Seafood Traders and Processors has also helped boost results.
Under the agreement, Vietnam and Russia cooperate in controlling and supervising product quality based on international standards, assist their businesses in making direct contracts, and update a list of Russian importers that wish to contract with Vietnamese exporters.
So far Russia has recognised 38 Vietnamese seafood exporters.
