Construction starts on sewage treatment plant

Malaysian company Gamuda on July 28 announced it commenced construction of a sewage treatment plant in Yen So Park on the outskirts of Hanoi.

The 233-million-USD plant has been designed to treat about 200,000 cu.m per day, representing nearly half of Hanoi’s household sewage.

The construction launch coincided with the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry’s visit to Vietnam.

Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is leading a 65-member mission to visit Vietnam from July 27-30 to promote Malaysian products and services, and explore business and investment opportunities.

The mission includes members of parliament, officials from Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysia Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), and representatives from Malaysian businesses.

Trade between the two countries has been growing over the last five years. Last year, Vietnam-Malaysia trade was valued at 4.15 billion USD.
