Japanese firm to design national historical museum
A Japanese architectural firm has been selected as the contractor to design the proposed National Museum of History, the Government announced on July 23.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung gave the green light to the Ministries of Construction, Culture, Sports and Tourism’s selection of the architectural plan by Nikken Sekkei and their nomination of the company to design the new museum.
The Prime Minister asked the Construction Ministry to negotiate and sign a contract with the Japanese design firm and requested the ministry to invest in building technical infrastructure for the Huu Nghi (Friendship) park where the museum will be located.
Dung also assigned the ministry responsibility to oversee the park’s plans and investment, and coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in its design to ensure the design and utility of the park and museum were suitably matched.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned to collect objects and materials for museum display and plans for layout and design of the displays. The ministry will also collect advice from professionals during the design and implementation phases.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment will coordinate with the Finance Ministry to allocate capital following the approved capital plan and the Hanoi People’s Committee will continue overseeing site clearance in order to prepare the site before October this year.
