2,971 projects worth over VND 35 trillion postponed

A total of 2,971 with total investment capital of over VND 35 trillion have been postponed by Ministries, central agencies, localities, economic groups and corporations, in implementation of the Prime Minister's instruction on re-arranging investment projects and budget spending in 2008 which is aimed at curbing inflation, said Mr Le Van Hoc, spokesman of the Ministry of Planning and Investment at a press conference on July 23.

Of the figure, 84 projects with total investment of VND 330 billion are delayed by ministries and central agencies. Localities have delayed 1,884 projects with total investment of VND 5.66 trillion.

Fifteen economic groups and corporations have delayed 1,003 projects with total investment of VND 29.37 trillion.

The projects that are delayed are unnecessary ones. Investment for these delayed projects will be injected into key projects that are in urgent need of completion.
