Fish traders to display products at int’l show

Some 128 local and foreign companies in the fishery industry will show their products and processing and processing techniques at a three-day fisheries exhibition at the Ho Chi Minh City Exhibition and Convention Centre, due to open on June 12.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP)’s 10th Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition will have a total of 224 booths put up by companies from Britain, Spain, Malaysia, Germany, Norway, Japan and other countries.

Tools, equipment, chemicals and services that support the fisheries industry will be on display.

Truong Dinh Hoe, VASEP’s general secretary, said that VIETFISH2008 will hold a Good Quality Products Contest, a Knowledge on Fisheries Contest and a Best Seafood Dish competition.

Eight food and drink booths will serve visitors during the exhibition.

Mr. Hoe said that aquatic products’ export turnover for the first five months of the year reached US$1.5 billion and sales would further increase for the rest of the year. The year’s target set by the Government is US$4.5 million.
