- August 09, 1975: Southern Waterways Administration was established under the Decision No. 32-QD/TC issued by the General Department of Transport;

- August 06, 1976: Renamed as Inland Waterway Division;

- January 30, 1979: Renamed as Mekong River Transport Enterprise;

- December 15, 1984: Renamed as Water Transportation Enterprise No.2;

- February 28, 1992: Renamed as Waterway Transport Corporation II;

- September 14, 1993: Renamed as Waterway Transport Company II;

- August 13, 1996: Southern Waterborne Transport Corporation was established under the Decision No.2124/QD-TCCB-LD issued by Ministry of Transport;

- May 26, 2003: Put into operation under the model of Parent company - Subsidiary company;

- July 04, 2008: The Prime Minister issued the Decision No.854/QD-TTg on approving the plan of equitizing Southern Waterborne Transport Corporation;

- June 09, 2009: Officially transformed into the Southern Waterborne Transport Joint Stock Corporation;

- March 2016:  The shareholder structure was changed from the State majority ownership to the types of businesses without the State-owned capital;
