Siemens wins power equipment contract
Siemens and PetroVietnam's Nhon Trach 2 power plant subsidiary signed a service contract in Ha Noi last Saturday under which Siemens will deliver, install and maintain two gas turbines, one steam turbine and three generators for the power plant in the southern province of Dong Nai.
"With a total capacity of about 750MW, the Nhon Trach 2 Combined Cycle Power Plant, when completed, will be a major power generating facility in Viet Nam," said Hoang Xuan Quoc, general director of PetroVietnam Power Nhon Trach 2 Joint Stock Co.
"Its stable operation and proper maintenance will play a key role in supplying reliable power to meet the country's growing energy needs, and to help ensure sustainable development of the national economy," said Quoc.
"Viet Nam has a fast-growing economy with an increasing demand for energy," agreed Siemens Viet Nam president and CEO Erdal Elver. "Nhon Trach 2 is among the most efficient thermal power plants in the country, contributing to the economical and climate-friendly use of natural resources," Elver said. "We will continue to be truly committed to Viet Nam as demonstrated through our contributions to a number of major power plants with the most advanced technology and our growing local competence."
Siemens Viet Nam has supplied and installed two industrial steam turbines at the Bai Bang paper mill in northern midland Vinh Phu Province and participated in a number of Viet Nam's major infrastructure projects in such key areas of the economy as industry, healthcare and transportation.
