Several stocks lose ground

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fell for five consecutive trading sessions on June 14 as several stocks tumbled while investors opted to stand on the sideline.

The index of 303 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange slid 0.54 percent, or 2.33 points, to close at 425.28 points with 73 gainers, 162 losers, and 73 remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse decreased by 44 percent in volume, and 47 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 46.93 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND766.95 billion.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) led the list of most active shares in volume for four straight trading sessions with 5.4 million shares changing hands.

Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) was the runner-up with 2.7 million shares.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) followed with 1.43 million shares traded.

Construction & Materials Trading Joint Stock Company (CNT) demolished 5 percent to close at VND9,500.

Vung Tau Construction & Real Estate Joint Stock Company (VRC) slumped 4.94 percent to close at VND7,700.

Duc Long Gia Lai Group Joint Stock Company (DLG) dodged 4.92 percent to close at VND11,600.

Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company (BHS) recovered 4.97 percent to close at VND19,000.

Rang Dong Light Source And Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company (RAL) strengthened 4.82 percent to close at VND32,600.

Techno - Agricultural Supplying Joint Stock Company (TSC) salvaged 4.81 percent to close at VND10,900.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – lost 3.95 points, or 0.78 percent, to end at 500.24. Among its 30 members, 7 stocks edged up, 19 went down, and 4 moved flat.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north capped 0.7 percent, or 0.52 points, to close at 74.24 points with 84 winners, 134 losers, and 75 stocks stalling. Around 35.96 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND372.95 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares cut 0.33 percent, or 0.12 points, to close at 36.21 points. A total of 169,910 shares changed hands at VND1.06 billion.
