Indicies lose value on dried up trades
Shares retreated on Monday on both national exchanges with a total of 357 codes losing value. On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index lost 1.12 per cent to close at 396.41 points.
Market value, however, gained 6.4 per cent to VND462.7 billion (US$22.5 million) over last Friday's session, although market volume dropped slightly to 24.7 million shares.
The 10 leading shares by capitalisation tumbled, with PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) hitting the floor and only insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) making a gain, climbing 0.8 per cent.
Other blue chips also lost ground, including steel maker Hoa Phat Group (HPG) closing down 3.1 per cent and Vietcombank (VCB) down 1.1 per cent.
Sacombank (STB) was the most active code with nearly 3.2 million shares exchanged.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index plunged 1.8 per cent to finish at 67.32 points.
Trades were meagre with only 23.4 million shares worth VND228.7 billion ($11.1 million), a decrease of 33.3 per cent from Friday in terms of value.
Kim Long Securities Company (KLS) claimed the highest trading volume in Ha Noi, seeing 2.8 million shares changing hands.
