Energy officials visit southern mine

Officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, led by Deputy Minister Somboun Rasasombath, recently paid a visit to the Neyland Lao Mining Company in Attapeu province.

During the visit, officials met with company Director Mr Maksim Parshin and technicians working at the site. The officials were briefed on the company's search for tin and zinc ore in Attapeu, as well as its work plans for 2011 and 2012.

Mr Parshin said that all of the company's achievements are a result of the strong cooperation between Laos and Russia, and also between the ministry and local authorities.

Mr Somboun and his delegation also learned about geological matters from the company's technicians and the standards outlined in an agreement signed between the Lao government and the Joint Stock Company “Neyland” Russian Federation in October 12, 2009.
