Stocks climb to 30-trading-session high

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index advanced the second day, topping a 30-trading-session high on April 28 with support from some large-cap stocks. The shares of 284 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.77 percent, or 3.61 points, to close at 472.93 points.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Among the index members, 94 rallied, 123 dropped, while 72 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse fell by 17 percent in volume and 25 percent in value over the previous trading session as 23.6 million shares changed hands at a value of VND447 billion.

Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) continued to led the list of most active shares in volume with more than 2 million shares changing hands.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, tagged along with 1.05 million shares.

Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) remained in the third spot with 793,780 shares traded.

Investment Commerce Fisheries Corporation (ICF) and Vinpearl Joint Stock Company (VPL) both jumped the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent to close at VND8,400 and VND63,000 respectively.

Taya Vietnam Electric Wire and Cable Joint Stock Company (TYA) snapped its three-consecutive-day losing streak, restoring 4.88 percent to VND4,300.

Vien Dong Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (DVD) rebounded 4.82 percent to close at VND8,700.

Viet Nam Land Investment Corporation (VNI) lost 5 percent to trade at VND9,500.

Saigon General Service Corporation (SVC) sank for second day, closing down 4.98 percent to VND22,900.

South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG) dived after treading water for four straight days, giving up 4.95 percent to VND21,100.

The Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north made a contrast move, declining 0.62 percent, or 0.52 points, to close at 83.27 points. Trading volume slightly decreased over the previous trading session as 23.5 million shares worth VND309.37 billion changed hands.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares slid 0.07 points to 35.85 points this morning. A total of 57,600 shares changed hands at a value of VND1 billion as of 11:10 am local time.
