HCM City – Yangon air route launched

The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines opened a direct air route from HCM City to Myanmar’s city of Yangon at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on November 15.

The new route will operate three flights per week on Monday, Friday and Sunday by Airbus 320 aircraft.

Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines Trinh Hong Quang said that the new route will help bring Vietnamese and foreign entrepreneurs to Myanmar and vice versa. It will also help Vietnam Airlines perfect its air routes, diversify products, improve competitive edge and enhance the airline’s role in South East Asia.

On the occasion, Vietnam Airlines will offer a discount of VND1.95 million (US$100) per return ticket to Yangon for passengers from November 15 to December 25. The normal price of each ticket often ranges from US$300 to US$480.

Earlier in March 2010, Vietnam Airlines also opened a direct air route from Hanoi to Yangon with four flights per week.
