Province plans future industrial development
The southern province of Tay Ninh will be developed into an industrial zone by 2020 under a socio-economic development master plan approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
Under the scheme, Tay Ninh's infrastructure will be relatively modern and uniform, and similar to the urban areas of HCM City and the Southern Key Economic Zone.
To realise the goal, the province's industrial sector will be developed with top priorities given to eight vital industries: Natural resources exploitation and processing; food and foodstuff processing; wood processing and paper production; building materials production; chemical and pharmaceutical production; garment and shoe making; mechanical engineering and metalworking; and power and water production and supply.
The province has set targets of an average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of between 14.5 and 15 per cent per annum in the 2011-15 period, and between 15.5 and 16 per cent for the following five years.
Production in agricultural, forestry and fishery areas are expected to grow 6-6.2 per cent on average; industrial production, 21-21.5 per cent; and services, 14.5-15 per cent.
