Rice exports reach 6 million tonnes

Vietnam has exported more than 6 million tonnes of rice, earning US$2.5 billion, according to the Vietnam Food Association.

In the first two weeks of this month, more than 205,000 tonnes of rice were shipped, worth US$95,3 million.

The price of five percent broken rice has increased by US$20 per tonne to US$490-485 compared to early November while 25 percent broken rice is up US$5 to US$445-450 per tonne.

To date, the total order for 2011 has already hit 7 million tonnes and the target of exporting 6.5 million tonnes of rice this year is within reach.
