Belgium firms explore business opportunities
A multi-sector delegation of enterprises from Flanders city in the northern part of Belgium met with local counterparts on Tuesday in HCM City to exchange information and explore business opportunities.
The visiting enterprises specialise in producing diesel engines, forestry exploitation, food, electronics, construction, energy and real estate, among others.
The Directors of BNP Paribas Fortis Viet Nam, an international bank, as well as Metro Cash and Carry Viet Nam, a supermarket chain, spoke of their experiences in doing business in Viet Nam.
Martin Cardoen, Belgium's economic and commercial counsellor in HCM City also shared his insights with the visitors.
The delegation will continue to meet with local companies tomorrow in Ha Noi before returning to Belgium.
Nearly 90 Belgian companies are operating in Viet Nam at the moment, 66 of them from Flanders.
According to the Economic and Commercial Representation office of Flanders in Ha Noi, bilateral trade between Viet Nam and Belgium increased strongly in the last decade, from US$377 million in 1999 to $1.36 billion in 2008 and almost $1.5 billion last year.
