Power supply projects begin Central Highlands operations

The National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT), under the Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN), early this week put into operation the 500-kV substation in the Central Highland province of Dak Nong and a 220-kV transmission line for the Dong Nai 3 Hydropower Plant-Dak Nong.

The projects were completed one month earlier than expected.

In order to transmit electricity from Dong Nai 3 and 4 hydropower plants which will start operation by the end of this year, the EVN has assigned NPT to invest in three projects of the national grid.

They are the 500-kV Dak Nong substation with a capacity of 900MVA, 30 kilometres of a 220-kV transmission line for Dong Nai 3 Hydropower Plant–Dak Noâng, and a 220-kV transmission line for Dong Nai 4 Hydropower Plant–Dak Noâng, with a total investment of VND720 billion (US$37 million).

The third project is expected to join the national grid soon.

A year ago, the NPT began operation of the 220 kV Tam Ky substation and 45 kilometres of a 220-kV transmission line for the Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Plant in Tam Ky Town in the central province of Quang Nam.
