So far this year, the Government Inspectorate has conducted 38 inspections and reached conclusions on eight cases, according to Deputy Chief Government Inspector Mai Quoc Binh.
Speaking at a press conference in Ha Noi yesterday, Binh said the crimes in the eight concluded cases involved the misuse of VND1.266 trillion (US$67.1 million).
The Government Inspectorate proposed the reclamation of VND929 billion ($49.2 million) and the exclusion of another VND1.189 trillion ($63 million) from the approved balance sheets of the companies involved.
The main crimes included the abuse of power in licensing mining projects and in the use of State budget money - as well as misconduct involving land management, he added.
