Deputy PM urges ministries to encourage production

The Government Office has released the Deputy Prime Minister’s findings on the country’s production output, business, and export-import activities in the first five months of this year as well as measures to minimise the trade deficit in 2010.

Thanks to the effective implementation of government’s measures, the economy bounced back well in the first quarter, said Mr. Hai, adding that the industrial, agricultural, service, and export sectors experienced a stronger growth than in the same period last year.

However, the lack of capital, the soaring cost of input materials, water and electricity shortages, saline infiltration into agricultural land, and uncontrolled pandemics have posed many challenges to businesses.

The demanding export markets, the rising trade deficit and fluctuations in the prices of goods, especially essential commodities, have also negatively impacted the balance of payment.

In order to solve these problems, The Deputy PM has asked all ministries, agencies and provincial people’s committee to focus on measures to promote production, consumption and exports.
