Cement business exports clinker for first time
The Cam Pha Cement Joint Stock Company, under the Vietnam Construction and Import - Export Corporation (VINACONEX), exported 15,000 tonnes of clinker for the first time on June 30.
The clinker (Building materials composed of incombustible material) was exported to the Middle East from a port in the northern Quang Ninh province.
This marks a turning-point for Vietnam’s cement industry as clinker is a material Vietnam had imported mainly from Taiwan, Thailand and China previously at high prices. Now, Vietnam has the capacity and resources to export clinker to the Middle East-a potential market.
Hoang Anh Tuan, General Director of the company, said the Cam Pha Cement JSC continues to trade with Africa and the Middle East and expand to some familiar markets such as Cambodia and Laos.
“We hope this will contribute to establishing our trademark more firmly in domestic and foreign markets,” he said.
To take advantage of the deep port and minimize expenditures, the Cam Pha Cement JSC used ship with a loading capacity of 15,000 tonnes, named VINACONEX LINE, to transport the goods to foreign countries.
