Japan imports 60 tonnes of Vietnamese mangos

A cooperative in Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province, has exported another four tonnes of Hoa Loc mangos to Japan, raising its total amount of mangos shipped to this market to 60 tonnes.

This is part of a contract to export 100 tonnes to the Japanese market, said Nguyen Van Thuc, Vice Head of the Hoa Loc Mango Cooperative.

The 100-strong cooperative is purchasing mangos from its members at an average price of VND24,000 per kg. It currently grows the fruit on an area of more than 50ha, which turns out nearly 400 tonnes of mangos annually.

The Mekong delta province of Tien Giang now has over 4,000 ha growing Hoa Loc mangos.
