Hong Kong fair promotes developing nations

Reports on availability of products in 22 developing countries, including Viet Nam, as well as many of the products themselves will be showcased by the US-based non-profit organisation Kearny Alliance at a sourcing fair to be held in Hong Kong from April 20 to 23.

On display at the "China Sourcing Fairs: Home Products and Fashion Accessories" to be held at AsiaWorld-Expo, besides the reports, will be nearly 100 home decor and fashion accessories from featured suppliers in Viet Nam and countries like India, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

"For the first time, buyers can ‘touch and feel' the quality of products made in Viet Nam, Cambodia, India and Indonesia featured in our sourcing reports," said Khiem Vu, manager of Kearny Alliance's Developing Country Export Assistance Programme.

"We'll have lacquered lamps, trays, vases, plates, boxes, hand-woven handbags and footwear from Viet Nam; necklaces, bangles, bracelets and gift items from India; and 100 percent silk scarves and purses from Cambodia.

"We trust that by … displaying actual products, buyers will realise the sourcing opportunities and tremendous value the reports offer."

Each product-specific report contains supply market intelligence, details about many suppliers, top-selling export products and design trends, price and price forecasts.

"The Sourcing Reports are important components of the Kearny Alliance's Developing County Export Assistance Programme," said Alexander Boome, the organisation's programme director. "Our aim is to assist export suppliers sell to buyers worldwide, and create jobs in developing Asia."

Global Sources is a leading business-to-business media company and a primary facilitator of trade with mainland China and its territories.
