Power firm fails to assess consumption during February
The lack of workforce has led to the Ha Noi Electricity Company failing to measure electricity usage rate of all individual consumers before its new electricity price level came into effective on Monday.
"The company was just able to measure electricity usage of businesses, production units, State agencies and consumers that use their own electricity stations with a capacity of more than 40kWhs by the end of February before the new rate came into effective since March 1 as a result of labour shortage," said Hoang Anh, Head of the company's competition and propaganda office.
Meanwhile, the remaining 1.7 million individual consumers who have not had their electricity meters read on deadline would pay for their electricity usage basing on both the old and new electricity prices, she said.
"It means that the old electricity price will be applied for their average electricity usage in February and the new price will be applied for their average electricity usage since March 1," she explained.
Since March 1, the household electricity price for the first 50kWhs will remain unchanged at VND600 (US$0.33) perkWh while the price for the next 50kWhs upwards will increase by between 5.6 per cent to about 16.1 percent.
