VCCI signs deal for exports

Marketing firm Global Sources signed an agreement yesterday with the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s Exhibition Service Co, VietchamExpo, to promote export of Vietnamese products including textiles, shoes and handicrafts.

Under the agreement, Vietnamese exporters will gain greater access to Global Sources’ community of more than 829,000 global buyers through the China Sourcing Fairs - a branded annual exhibition that the group has established. The event is now located in China’s key trade show city, Shanghai.

The exporters will also have opportunities to participate in export marketing training courses.

Sarah Benecke, executive director of Global Sources, said: "Vietnamese products currently meet the demand for the design and quality, however the challenges for exporters are a lack of marketing and communication skills to expand their business as well as enter new markets."

Through the training courses, Vietnamese exporters can know and understand global purchasing trends and produce products and services that meet market demand.

"We firmly believe our co-operation with Global Sources will help local exporters gain market shares worldwide," said Bui Thi Thuc Anh, director of the VCCI Exhibition Service Co.

The company will organise seminars in big cities to popularise Viet Nam’s booths at the China Sourcing Fair, she said.

The list of exporters participating in the fair will be posted on the website of Global Sources through which suppliers receive more than 81 million sales leads annually from buyers or importers.

A Global Sources release says the company has been facilitating global trade for 38 years. It boasts a network covering more than 60 cities worldwide. In China, Global Sources has over 2,500 team members in more than 40 locations.

The company offers an extensive range of media and export marketing services in the industries it serves. It delivers information on 4.3 million products and more than 196,000 suppliers annually through 14 online marketplaces, 13 monthly magazines, over 100 sourcing research reports and 12 specialised trade shows in 10 major cities.
