Tax break for economic zone employees

Vietnamese and foreigners working in economic zones will enjoy a 50 percent reduction in their personal income tax, under a new Ministry of Finance decision.

The income tax exemption will include people employed by economic zone management boards and state offices, as well as individuals or organizations based in economic zones.

Vietnam currently has 13 economic zones covering nearly 590,000 hectares, mostly in central coastal provinces.

Activities carried out in the economic zones include oil refining, steel lamination, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering and electricity generation.
