Ninh Thuan hosts investment forum
Potential investment and business opportunities in the central coastal province of Ninh Thuan will be introduced to domestic and international investors at a conference announced by the Ministry of Planning and Investment yesterday, September 9.
The conference on investment in Ninh Thuan province would be held in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City on October 17, the ministry’s Foreign Investment Agency head Phan Huu Thang said.
The conference was important to Ninh Thuan because it was still poor and had great potential which has not been effectively exploited.
At the conference, the province would introduce a list of 55 projects.
The projects covered such fields as tourism, urban, industrial areas infrastructure, industry, agriculture, trade-service, science and technology, health and education and training.
Provincial People’s Committee chairman Nguyen Chi Dung said the province’s economic development model was green and clean.
Along with developing a good investment environment, the province planned to set up a good living environment with high-quality education and health care.
"With this development, we hope that we can attract foreign investors and high-income foreign people to live and work in the province," Dung said.
Preferential investment policies and support from the Vietcombank were promised to investors.
"Land clearance is difficult in other provinces," Dung said," but in our province it will not be an obstacle. We will complete land clearance to hand over clean land to the investors."
Ninh Thuan province was in a significant geographical location at the T-junction of the Southland Focal Economic Zone, southern part of central Viet Nam and the Central Highlands.
Under the plan for socio-economic development of the coastline of central Viet Nam to 2020, approved by the Government, Ninh Thuan was earmarked for some major national industries, including two nuclear power plants.
"After 2020, Ninh Thuan will become the national energy centre of the country so that it is a new chance for investors," Dung said.
Ninh Thuan is also close to Cam Ranh International Airport and Van Phong Port.
Being a poor province was an advantage, Dung said.
"This is a good time and good chance for us to develop. It is better to develop from the beginning than from the middle."
