Sales promotion month pays off
It is a nice surprise for many producers and traders joining the Sales Promotion Month in the city as sale revenues increased sharply in the first week since its launch, said an official with the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade.
Initial surveys at main distributors and businesses in HCMC show that their sale revenues have increased by 50-60% and approached 70% on the National Day over normal days, said Tran Thi Chi Linh, head of industry-trade promotion and export-import department under the Department, the organizer of the event. The promotion was launched early this month to lend a helping hand to Vietnamese high-quality products at a time the local market is awash with imported commodities.
Nguyen Thi Quyen, deputy director for marketing of the chain Thien Hoa Interior Furniture and Electronics Center, told the Daily that revenue and shoppers have increased by 30% and 40% respectively, especially reaching 70% and 100% on September 2.
Thien Hoa's chain has cut the prices of electronic items by up to 49% with promotional programs, resulting in such a stunning outcome that the chain did not expect when it kicked off the program, said Quyen.
Vissan Co. Ltd., one of the leading food processors in Vietnam also enjoys an increase of up to 30% in revenue with the promotion campaign, said Van Duc Muoi, deputy general director of Vissan.
The same picture can also be seen at Co.opMart chain where revenue has surged 43% year-on-year, with National Day's revenue hitting an increase of 75% due to the rising number of shoppers by 60% over normal days, said Le Quang Thuc Quynh, marketing director of Saigon Co-op, the owner of the chain.
Discounted food, fruit and vegetable that play an important role in the family's meals also see good sale during the National Day, added Quynh.
Besides launching the program at fixed positions among its shops, Co.opMart chain also dispatched mobile trucks to the outskirts and in industrial parks and processing zones of the city to cater to busy shoppers. The program that costs VND500 million has been fruitful with revenue rising 20-30% year-on-year.
