Contract helps smooth running of VN’s first oil refinery

The SK Energy of the Republic of Korea has made a deal to ensure the stable operation of Vietnam’s first oil refinery, Dung Quat, in the central province of Quang Ngai.

The RoK company, on Sept. 15, signed a contract with the Binh Son Ltd. Co., a Vietnam Oil and Gas Group subsidiary in charge for running the refinery, to provide operational and maintenance services.

Within a period of between six months to 2.5 years, SK Energy will provide over 140 staff under the contract. It will also transfer operational methods and organise training courses for the Binh Son staff in order to help the refinery run independently.

By the end of this year, the Dung Quat refinery will run at its full capacity to produce 6.3 million tonnes of product per year, including Mogas 90, 92 and 95 petrol, liquefied petroleum gas, Jet A1 fuel, Diesel, and propylene.
