Workers strike in Dong Nai over late pay
About 900 workers at Moland Co. Ltd. in Dong Nai Province’s Trang Bom District went on strike Tuesday because of late salary payments, the provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said.
Workers’ wages were late as personal income tax declaration forms had to be redistributed, the company explained.
According to the department, many workers also demanded a pay rise as they had heard inaccurate information about a State regulation on increasing salaries.
After the incident, the department and other agencies worked with the company - a South Korean producer of knapsacks and handbags – to resolve the dispute but many workers did not go back to work by Tuesday afternoon, the department said.
