Viettel ranks highly among telecom companies
Viettel ranked 36th among 746 telecom companies worldwide in terms of the number of subscribers, said Wireless Intelligence.
The global database of mobile market information said that with nearly 28 million subscribers at the end of June, Viettel was fourth among the region’s 51 telecom services providers.
If growth rates continued, Viettel would beat its target of joining the world’s 30 top providers by 2015.
Mountainous Yen Bai Province launches website
The People’s Committee of the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai has launched www.yenbai.gov.vn.
The site provides 35 website addresses of the committee’s affiliated bodies and more than 1,000 pages on the province’s geography, history, culture, places of interest, people, administrative procedures and incentive policies to attract investment.
The site aims to provide easy access to public services and develop online relations between authorities and residents.
Protection, parental controls for smartphones
The Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 system for smartphones is being marketed by Nam Truong Son Security Company.
The software has anti-virus, anti-spam, parental control, anti-theft, firewall, encryption and lost and stolen phone location functions.
Company director Ngo Tran Vu said the software would allow users to take full advantage of their phones’ capabilities without worrying about mobile threats.
FPT Software reaches target in Japanese
FPT Software earned US$10.6 million for the first six months of the year, or 102 per cent of its target, in the Japanese market.
However, because of the global financial crisis, the turnover amount was one-tenth lower than that of the same period last year.
For the last six months, FPT Software plans to save expenditures, apply customer relationship management solutions and look for new growth opportunities to achieve its turnover target of $25 million for the year.
VDC launches promotion for internet service
The biggest internet provider in the country, the Viet Nam Datacommunications Company, will begin a major promotion nationwide from mid-August to the end of September.
During this time, customers who register to use the internet service MegaVNN will receive a modem, free installation and a discount of VND50,000 on the monthly service fee for one year at a value of US$75.
