Co To island district urged to boost economic development
The Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee (CPVCC) and Head of the CPVCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet has urged the Co To island district of the northern province of Quang Ninh to try its best to boost economic development and ensure national defence and security.
At a working session with officials of the district on August 29 and 30, the CPVCC Secretary praised the achievements made by local party committee, authorities and people.
Co To district has for many years exceeded economic, cultural and social development targets. With its advantages on large fishing ground and various kinds of seafood, the district has attached importance to developing aquaculture and marine and ecological tourism.
The district also plans to build a thermal power plant on the island, hoping to create a breakthrough in its socio-economic development.
During her stay in the district, Ha Thi Khiet offered incense at President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area and planted trees in the area and visited a border guard station.
