Vietnam’s biggest meat processing complex to be built
The Vissan Co. Ltd., was granted a license on August 13 to invest VND700 billion in a meat processing complex in Luong Binh commune, Ben Luc district, southern Long An province.
Covering an area of 22.4ha, the complex will consist of a slaughter house with 360 pigs, 35 head of cattle and 2,000 head of poultry per hour.
There will also be a food processing system to produce 1,200 tonnes of Chinese sausage, 12,500 tonnes of tinned food, 45,500 tonnes of hot dogs and 2,000 tonnes of pork-pie per year, as well as freezing stores and waste treatment facilities.
On average the complex will supply 38,000-40,000 tonnes of pork, 4,600-5,000 tonnes of cattle products, 8,000-10,000 tonnes of poultry products and 71,000-75,000 tonnes of processing food for the market each year.
Construction will begin at the end of 2010 and the complex will be operational in late 2012. It’s expected to become Vietnam’s biggest meat processing complex.
