HMC: Explanation for the business result in quarter 2/2009

Hochiminh City Metal Corporation (HMC) has explained the business fluctuation between quarter 2/2009 and quarter 1/2009 as follows:

- Profit before tax in quarter 1/2009: VND3,078,470,111

- Profit before tax in quarter 2/2009: VND6,066,365,000

Profit before tax in quarter 2/2009 increased 97.1% in comparison with quarter 1/2009 because:

- The demand of steel in quarter 2/2009 rose up rapidly, so revenue increased 42.16%.

- Besides, the steel price in quarter 2/2009 was higher than that in quarter 1/2009 and prices of some products rose up 30% which made profit in quarter 2/2009 increased 97%.
