First German beer licensed for production in Vietnam

A local firm received the license to produce Bitburger, a leading German beer, in Vietnam Friday.

Kinh Bac Investment and Trading Company would exclusively produce Bitburger beer in Vietnam and distribute both domestically and throughout Indochina, according to the license.

“People in Vietnam have known about German beer for ages,” said Kinh Bac’s Joseph Lim. “Beer is a part of German culture, as well as Vietnamese culture.”

Bui Duy Nam, the firm’s marketing director, said it would import and distribute the beer for the first year and then produce and bottle it in local factories.

The firm, a member of Kinh Bac Group, said it planned to develop two Bitburger centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City where the beer and German food would be served together in traditional German style.
