Ben Tre oysters to get international certification

Oysters cultivated in Ben Tre Province will be granted an international brand certificate by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) next month, the provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Department said Wednesday.

The department’s Deputy Director Tran Thi Thu Nga said the certification was an achievement gained after efforts made by provincial authorities and people over the past 10 years.

Some 2,400 seafood products worldwide have been certified by MSC thus far. Ben Tre’s oyster will be the first seafood in Southeast Asia to receive an MSC certificate.
