The US company WorleyParsons has signed a contract with the LILAMA Corporation in Hanoi to provide a consultancy service for the thermo-electric power plant Vung Ang 1, Ha Tinh.

The contract, worth over 25.4 million USD, was signed on July 23.

Under the contract, Worley Parson will provide the consultancy for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the 1,200 MW power plant.

The plant, one of the country’s 16 key projects, will be built in the Vung Ang Economic Zone in the Ky Anh district of Ha Tinh province with a total investment of US$1.17 billion.

The coal-fuelled plant is scheduled to put its first turbine into operation in August 2012 and the second at the beginning of 2013, adding nearly 8 billion kWh a year to the national grid.
