La Vie enlarges bottling plant
La Vie, the largest bottled water maker in Viet Nam, has installed two new production lines at its Long An factory to meet the growing demand for mineral water.
They cost over VND100 billion (US$6 million), Gilles Duc, Lavie’s general manager, told a press conference the company held in the southern province on Friday.
"They use the latest technology available in Europe and have more than twice the capacity of existing lines", he claimed.
Capable of producing 18,000 half-litre bottles or 1,000 19-litre bottles an hour, they used 30 per cent less electricity, contributing to environmental protection, he said.
Lavie has another bottling plant in Hung Yen Province, which has a natural mineral water source approved in 2002 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The company plans to expand the capacity of this plant too next year.
La Vie, a joint venture between Nestle Waters, the global leader in bottled-water production, and Long An Trading Company, was set up in 1992 with an investment of $5.6 million.
It employs more than 440 people at its two plants.
