WorleyParson win consulting contract for Vietnam power plant

WorleyParson Pte. will provide consulting services for the construction of a power plant in central Vietnam under a US$25.5 million contract signed Thursday, the constructor Lilama Corp. said.

WorleyParson will provide technical and managerial consultancy through the whole process of engineering, procurement and construction of the Vung Ang 1 Plant, Lilama said in a statement on its website.

The coal-fired power plant, located in Ha Tinh Province, is planned to have a capacity of 1,200 megawatts.

It is expected to consume 2.9 million tons of domestic coal to produce 8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, the company said.

Lilama will build the plant within 45 months, according to its contract with the state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, the investor of the plant.
