Da Nang builds ship to cope with oil spills
The Song Thu Company, under the Ministry of Defence in central Da Nang City has finished building a vessel, named MPV5212, to cope with oil spills.
The ship has a horsepower of 3,500, is 52 metres long and 12 metres wide and cost VND300 billion to build.
It is installed with modern equipment that can deal with oil spills at sea accidents, fires and rescues in any kind of weather for 30 continuous days without needing fuel.
It can also be used to transport cargo and products from the Dung Quat Oil refinery.
The ship was designed by the Damen Corporation from the Netherlands and was built in a year by engineers and workers from the Song Thu Company.
