Coffee export turnover gains US$1.1 billion
741,000 tonnes of coffee were exported in the first six months this year with the export turnover of US$1.1 billion, up 23% in terms of volume and down 12.07% in terms of value, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In June, the national volume of exported coffee was only 90,000 tonnes worth US$129 million. The coffee price is now put at US$1,324 a tonne, a drop by US$1,433 a tonne in comparison with the highest price level in March 2008 at US$2,757 a tonne.
In the past six months, top-ranking countries importing Vietnamese coffee have changed. Specifically, Belgium is ranked first among the countries importing Vietnamese coffee, accounts for 15.68% of Vietnam’s coffee export turnover, up 3.62 times and 2.52 times in terms of volume and value against the same period last year; followed by Germany (10.91%) and the US (0.67%).
