Importers want gas, oil retail price rise

Some key importers have suggested raising the retail prices of gasoline and oil, according to the ministries of Finance and Industry and Trade.

The Military Petroleum Company proposed price increases of VND750/liter for A92 gasoline, VND1,000/liter for diesel oil and VND1,000/liter for fuel oil.

It also suggested reducing the export and import tax rate on oil from 30 to 20 percent.

Two other companies also proposed price increases of VND700- 1,000 for a liter of gasoline or oil, according to Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper.

Since early April, the domestic gasoline retail price has been pushed up four times, by a total of VND2,500/liter. The gasoline import tax rate has been cut from 40 to 20 percent.

At present, the A92 gasoline, diesel oil and fuel oil are retailed for VND13,500 (US$0.75)/liter, VND11,500 ($0.64)/liter and VND10,000 ($0.55)/liter respectively.
