Chinese province seeks further trade with Vietnam

A seminar on trade and economic cooperation between Vietnam and the Chinese province of Hainan took place in Hanoi on July 9 with the participation of Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien and Hainan Governor Luo Baoming.

The Charge D’Affaires of the Chinese embassy in Hanoi also attended the event.

Total trade revenues between Vietnam and Hainan reached more than US$230 million last year. A flight route between Vietnam and the Chinese province and a maritime route connecting Hainan, Haiphong and HCM city will be launched soon.

The leaders of Hainan and several Vietnamese localities such as Haiphong and Nghe An have been promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and creating favourable conditions for enterprises from both sides to do business together.

Hainan has a population of 8.5 million with a per capita income of US$2,400 per year.
