36 contractors penalized for bidding violations
The Ministry of Transport has so far this year punished 34 local and two Japanese contractors for violating bidding regulations, a conference in Hanoi heard Monday.
Sixteen of the contractors are from Quang Ngai Province, eight from Lao Cai, two from Ha Giang; and four each from Hanoi and Nam Dinh.
In addition to a three-year ban from World Bank-funded projects and a one-year ban from the Transport Ministry’s projects, the contractors in Quang Ngai, Lao Cai and Ha Giang provinces were fined VND20 million (US$1,123) each.
Japanese contractors Taisai Corporation and Kajima Corporation are banned for a year beginning early this month.
