PM approves central airport to become international
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved Phu Bai Airport in central Thua Thien-Hue Province to become international by 2020.
According to the decision, the Phu Bai international airport will be a 4E-grade airport under International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and able to receive large airplanes.
It will also be designed to serve up to five million passengers a year and handle up to 20 aircrafts at peak-times by 2020.
By 2030, the 527-hectare airport is planned to be a second-class military airfield, serving about nine million passengers and receiving about 26 aircrafts at the same time.
Phu Bai airport is expected to receive a total investment capital of about VND12,571 billion (US$706 million).
