Sugar refinery fined for tax evasion
La Nga Sugar Refinery in Dong Nai Province has been asked to pay nearly VND16 billion (US$935,400) for evading tax payments between 2005 and 2007.
The joint-stock company’s General Director Tran Van Nga on Monday said the amount includes a VND1.1 billion ($64,300) fine.
Earlier, the provincial tax bureau found the company had faked papers to reduce the amount of taxes it had to pay between 2005 and 2007.
The investigators also discovered that the sugar refinery was illegally holding back VND10.4 billion ($608,000), in workers’ salaries and benefits for the 2005-2007 period.
