Vinaphone to launch 3G services in August
A Vinaphone representative said last week the company would launch its third-generation (3G) services on August 15 this year.
Initially, Vinaphone would focus the 3G coverage in larger cities, accounting for about 20 percent of the country’s total population.
The national telecom giant would provide services such as video call, mobile broadband Internet and other video-related services including Mobile TV and Video on Demand.
The official said Vinaphone would also introduce its gateway that allows customers to access 3G and download images and music to their cell phones.
In the next phase, the company will provide customers with more advanced 3G services including e-payment and quick search.
Vinaphone also plans to expand 3G services to all cities and provinces in Vietnam by the end of 2009.
Vinaphone, MobiFone, Viettel Telecom, EVN Telecom and Hanoi Telecom are five national telecom companies qualified for supplying 3G services.
