Preventing economic downturn in Vietnam discussed
A national scientific seminar entitled ‘Preventing economic downturn in Vietnam’ was held at the National Economic University this morning.
Speeches and 123 written papers sent to the organising board by scientists, representatives of the State agencies, associations and enterprises nationwide reviewed theoretical and practical experiences on the economic slowdown prevention and the economic stimulation in some countries, and at the same time proposed measures to make the Government’s policies on economic decline prevention more effective.
Most delegates said that in the context of the current Vietnamese economy, for the immediate future, the number 1 target was to stabilise macro-economy through stabilising exchange rates and interest rates and social welfare and so on, rather than promote economic growth rate.
They also emphasised that current global economic crisis was also a golden opportunity for restructuring the Vietnamese economy in general and enterprises in particular.
The seminar was jointly organised by the National Assembly’s Economic Committee, the National Economic University and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
