Imports, exports bounce back in Lao Cai border gate

The revenue from imports and exports passing through the Lao Cai border gate economic zone in May reached more than US$65 million, 86 percent higher than in April.

The Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee announced that imports and exports in early of May witnessed a rapid change due to the government’s stimulus package. As a result of market controls and measures to combat smuggling and fraud the flow of goods has increased by 4.5 percent and revenue has risen by 6 percent.

According to analysts, this economic recovery is sustainable, as the province has a transparent mechanism for exports and imports, especially the customs process. The province is also managing to control effectively diseases and is upgrading national highway 70 and the railway line linking Hanoi to Lao Cai.
