Seminar discusses solutions for SMEs to develop technology market
Local and international policy-makers and scientific managers gathered at a seminar in Hanoi on April 21 to discuss solutions and international experiences on developing the technology market to support Vietnam’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
Currently, SMEs in Vietnam account for 97 percent of total enterprises in Vietnam, generating around 3 million jobs, contributing 40 percent to the country’s GDP and 29 percent to total export turnover, with an annual growth rate of 18 percent.
Almost all Vietnamese SMEs are using outdated technology and spend just 0.1 percent of their turnover to update their technology.
Nguyen Quang Tuan from the National Institute for Science and Technology Policy and Strategy Studies said that the Government of Vietnam has approved a series of decisions on the building of a legal framework for developing the technology market. These regulations have also helped businesses further invest in new technology.
At the seminar, many international experts also shared experiences in developing the technology market for SMEs.
